Business Cards in process

Step No. 1 Design business card
Step No. 2 Distribute cards to EVERYONE

It took 38 days.  38 days from packing up in Florida to actual tangible stability.  Our standard is pretty high these days when it comes to quantifying stability.  Finally, it feels like our roller coaster of a year is coming to an end and it got me thinking about timelines.  I suppose timelines could have lots of things as markers, but I like to think of mine in terms of physical moves I have made.  Actual pack everything up,  cancel your power, rent a moving truck moves.  I’ve moved a lot as a grown up.  My family moved once while I was in college but since i didn’t make all the arrangements or even pack up my room, I don’t count that one.  So when I start to organize my years, I start at college graduation.  It was the first time I was making my own BIG decisions like where to live, how to live, what to do job wise.

So I moved, I moved a lot.  I have a one year policy before I started to plan my next move, not consciously, but upon reflection the pattern is pretty obvious.  Every move was for a good reason, most were in hopes of improvement in some form, some worked, some didn’t.  heres a fun list of my relocation adventures.Image

heres to settling down for a change.

Owl Commission

This is a commissioned custom piece from a bride to her maid of honor. I was given one concept “she likes owls” and ran with it. It went through a couple phases, beginning with a light palette and then I spent some time with the recipient and quickly discovered she was not a pastel kind of gal. I reworked the whole piece to be bold and bright to fit Jenny’s sassy personality. If you are interested in commissioned painting for the upcoming holiday season, send me a note of your ideas!

Flower of Belize Sketch

I had a wonderful visit from new friends in Maryland. They were married in the rainforest of Belize by a Mayan priest. The flowers for the ceremony were picked by the priest and was a flower (specific name unknown) found only in Belize. The couple has chosen the flower as a symbol of their marriage and have plans to get the tattoo in very soft black and grey.
I think this is a great example of how to memorialize a relationship.

Art grab bag is kinda like pictionary, every artist draws from a bowl of random senseless words and has to combine them into one drawing.  There are no points, no winners just an art nerd exercise that gets you in a creative problem solving state of mind.  This is one sketch from the game that I will polish up.  Queen with Rooke Voodoo Doll

Its always exciting to start @ a new shop.  New space, new people, new clientele, new walls to fill with sketches and new ropes to learn.  Every shop has its own way of doing things and its always fascinating to see how each shop brings their own flavor to the business.  Its exciting to be welcomed by such professional artists and I look forward to carving out my own little part of what they have built.  Thanks for making me feel so welcome.

this is shameless self promotion!  i am looking for clients!  i have am new to Maryland and have moved around a lot this year and so I am starting from scratch with my client base.  I’m starting at a new shop this week and would love LOVE to tattoo you!  No idea too big or too small, just send me a message about your idea and we can set up a time!
